DigiTimes - August 24, 2009 – Microsoft new application system will release to public, the multi touch technical providers all actively starts certify process, and complete Windows 7 label certification. The new projected capacitive touch panel provider – Sintek also join the provider groups. Cando 15.6 inches product received approval, and become the largest size of projected capacitive touch panel product. Furthermore, EETI 11.6 inches and 10.1 inches products both pass certify and become Windows 7 first approved multi touch product.
Microsoft new application system Windows 7 announced that complete user friendly multi touch operating interface, and that is one of the Windows 7 selling points. Since Window 7 will officially release on October 22, the market believe that PC plants will release touch function models for Windows 7 business opportunity. Thus, various multi touch solution providers all work towards to pass Microsoft certification.
Including Cando, Quanta, EETI, Wintek, Sintek, NextWindow, N-trig, Wacom, and Fujitsu 9 providers, 20 products pass the multi touch certification. The approved product sizes are from 10.1 inches to 23 inches. Most are projected capacitive touch panel products and optic touch panel products. Projected capacitive touch panel providers are Cando and EETI, who have the most complete product line. Quanta takes the head of optic touch panel provider position.
Besides, Sintek actively invest in capacitive touch panel development, these days pass the Microsoft certification for 13.4 inches product. Sintek uses G5 glass substrates for touch sensor production, which is the largest production line. According to authoritatively source, Sintek is going to hold a meeting for new product announcement very soon.
Even projected capacitive touch panel uses in 15 inches or above products, high cost is the challenge providers are currently face. For the short term, it is not easy to be available for all; however, Cando and EETI both plan to continue developing large size products. Indicated by Cando, capacitive touch panel will work towards 32 inches, 42 inches, and 52 inches, even above 65 inches product applications. ETTI mentions that the controller is capable to support 32 inches capacitive touch panel, and the touch panel glass provider also willing to support produce 32 inches product.
